Grab: frame grabber software on Lucille (Imager Dark)
Grab is a very easy program to use. The interface is very stright forward and
is explained in the grab interface HTML
document.
The program provides the user with two windows, the interface and the
video window. Examples of both of these can be found in the
grab interface HTML document. The program
allows one to grab one or more frames of video from
lucille's
video inputs at various resolutions.
In order to run grab /imager/local/bin must be in your
path. If it isn't, change to that directory and type ./grab.
If you do not know how to set up the equipment then see the
Frame grabbing database document.
Trouble Shooting
If you have set everything up as is explained in the
Frame grabbing database and it is still not working here are a few things
to check for:
- That the outputs of the frame generating device (i.e. Laser VideoDisk, VCR
, JVC CCD camera, etc... ) are going into the correct inputs. (It sounds silly
but it is a common enough mistake)
- If you are using the Vid/IO Box to change the video
format to RGB for
Lucille's inputs make sure that the source select switch is set to video
(for composite/video in) or S-video (for SVHS video in).
- One other thing to check is the setting of the termination switches. This
will affect the quality of the colour one gets. Generally speaking they should
be set to 75 Ohms (i.e. terminated.) For an explanation of the function of the
termination switches see Termination switches.
