Video/Screen Capture and Editing

• Video capture (or screen capture) and video editing capabilities are available on the shared machine caber. It sits in x660 and is for everyone in Imager to use.
• The BlackMagic Intensity card installed in caber allows you to capture exactly what you see on your laptop at the same frame rate. This works for laptops that have HDMI output. You connect your laptop to caber using the HDMI to HDMI cable provided (usually sitting on the desk that caber is on).
• The Adobe Premiere Pro software installed on caber allows you to edit the videos, including one you captured using the BlackMagic capture card.

  • Sony DCR VX2000: we have three of these cameras. The BBC uses these and has a usage guide as well as a "pick me up" review online.

Video Training/Instruction

• The BBC provides a free Good Shooting Guide: the basic principles which will take you an estimated five hours to read through. It contains information on cameras, microphones, lighting, and equipment kits.

• iMovie: The Missing Manual: we have a couple copies of this manual (for different versions of iMovie. The first couple of chapters are a quick read on how to use a camcorder and much more interesting than the camcorder manuals.
