Make a list of people to speak to at the conference. This may feel like it makes you a stalker, but remember that one of the reasons you are attending the conference is network with people and to bounce ideas off of other people in your area. For each person on your 'stalker' list, have a concrete idea of what you want to talk to them about.

Adjust your daily schedule for the number of time zones that you are travelling across. A rule of thumb is 1 hour/day leading up to your departure.

Prepare a 30-second and 1-minute overview of your research for when you meet people.
Read pre-prints of the papers for the sessions that you will attend. This will better prepare you for the talks.
Try to take the week before the conference to prepare for the conference. This may include, but is not limited to, preparing your talk.
