The matter was not, however, free from authority. 
In Law v National Greyhound Racing Club (1983) 1 WLR 1302, the Court of Appeal held that the authority of the stewards of the National Greyhound Racing Club to suspend a trainer's licence had been <tag "515672">derived</> wholly from a contract between him and the club and that the status of the stewards was that of a domestic tribunal.
