IJCAI 2005 in Edinburgh

Intense conference, but I only have a few shots from Edinburgh - unfortunately none of the theater and comedy festival that happened right after the conference. Unfortunately, I hadn't booked a room for the two days (weekend) I stayed after the conference and everything was completely booked out ... so I crashed at Kevin LB's place for the first night, saw 2 (or more?) shows with him and then went to Glasgow for a night while he moved to a hostel. The shows were very interesting: an odd and disturbing (some may say racist) "comedy" about foreigners in England, and a brilliant one, "Basic Training", performed by a single very gifted artist.

Nice park downtown Don't remember which church this is ... Nice flowers !

Edinburgh castle Same park Same castle

On the way to the IJCAI reception ... we ran into this rehearsal But we had missed almost all of it

and so were mostly impressed by the size of this orchestra Still on the way up to the castle Up there, taking a few moments away from the crowd for pictures ...

Haubitze ... how do you say that in English ? A single bag pipe player to entertain the crowds ... Edinburgh in the background

The next generation of humanoid robots by Sony Dancing was his master discipline! Mediocre way finding. This is already in Glasgow

Glasgow again Funny ad Pretty buildings in Glasgow

Scotland with stlye ... hehe Statue for James Watt Statue for Robert Burns (who was that?), complete with dove shit....

Hmm, again I'm clueless :-( Probably the town hall ... And the open place in front of it

Back in Edinburgh where I flew out. Some important person was approaching, with hordes of people watching ...
