References for CPSC 531F: Topics in Computer Science Theory: Applications of Linear Algebra, Spring 2021

There is no single reference for this course. Here are a number of references than may be useful.

Linear Algebra	For this course, an outstanding book (available for free online with your UBC CWL) is the classic: Matrix Analysis, by Horn and Johnson. There are many other good references on second-term linear algebra. Gilbert Strang's book "Linear Algebra and its Applications" is a classic, 2nd-term course in applied linear algebra. There are a number of linear algebra textbooks that are more "abstract" but do a good job in covering eigenvalues and related topics(and are available with a UBC CWL): Linear Algebra Done Right, by Sheldon Axler, Linear Algebra, by Serge Lang Much of the linear algebra we need is discussed by books on numerical methods, such as (e.g., chapters on eigenvalue computations of the books): Numerical Linear Algebra, by Holger Wendland, A First Course in Numerical Methods, by Uri Ascher and Chen Greif.
Expanders and Spectral Graph Theory	Expander graphs and their applications, by Hoory, Linial, Wigderson (123 page survey article, 2008 AMS Conant Prize winner) Dan Spielman's course on Spectral and Algebraic Graph Theory.
