What Goes Around...
For today's class, we will be reading one paper:
-
Michael Stonebraker Joseph M. Hellerstein: What Goes Around Comes
Around. Readings in Database Systems, Fourth Edition Morgan Kaufmann
2005. We're reading this paper because it gives a good summary of
what's happened to data models in databases over the last 40 years.
Hindsight is 20/20, and starting by seeing what's happened over the
last 40 years will give us some good perspective as we read the rest
of the papers.
This is a straightforward paper to read, so no special reading
strategies are required.
