Data Integration
In this class we will cover data integration from a very theoretical (in
the database sense) perspective. There are two readings:
To successfully complete this reading, be ready to write a good
response and be prepared for a good in class discussion, I suggest the
following strategy:
- For the first paper:
- Read all of Sections 1 through 5. Don't worry too much about the
bulleted list of views in Section 3.1. Don't worry about what
description logics are.
- Skim Sections 6 and 7
- Read Sections 8 and 9
- The second paper should be well motivated and fairly easy to understand
given the first paper. If not, skim sections 1 and 2, then read
sections 3. Refer to section 2 when stuck, and read all of 1 and 2
carefully when done. I'll also hand out a short set of homework
problems to make sure that you have something to focus on while
reading this.
