When most people think of westerns, what comes to mind typically involves cheesy singing cowboys or Yosemite Sam. However, westerns have existed for as long as movies have, and not only are some of the best films ever made westerns, but they’re great litmus tests for the era in which it was made.  We’ll start at the silent era and move on through to today, looking at the best and/or my favourite examples from Hollywood and abroad.
