Abstract
If a picture speaks a thousand words, how many words does a film speak? Turns out, films have their own language, and through this UDLS, we will try and decipher some of it. For example, what is diegetic sound? What is the difference between panning and zooming? How are films different from, say, watching a play? And what exactly is the "New Wave"?
