Hint: The answer to both questions is the same.
Artwork serves as a cultural barometer. Like anthropologists studying cave drawings, we can get a sense of the norms, values and ideas of previous generations by looking at the art they produced. In this talk, I hope to convince you that modernism isn't all a bunch of pretentious mumbo-jumbo and art history can, in fact, be kind of interesting.
