Abstract
The UnDistinguished Lecture Series (UDLS) is a wonderful tradition in the UBC CS department. While it has been on hiatus for the end of summer, this Friday I will be presenting the first UDL of the new term. We will start with a brief overview of the series, and some recommendations and advice for constructing your own UDLS. It is not as difficult as many might think 🙂. Then I will present my own UDLS - a brief overview over the city we study in (or do we….?). From its origins to Bing Crosby, from ramshackle bars to delicious new takes on lattes, this lecture has a little bit of everything - whether you are already familiar with the city or not.
