Status:
November 24, 2005:
Lisa has been upgraded to
SuSE? 10.0. It wireless interface has also been upgraded to use the new Proxim wireless card. The wireless interface is operating at 54Mbps.
Notes:
November 25, 2005: (update by RS)
Installing compiler toolchain, cvs, etc. I configured
YaST to point to:
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source/
.. and then used yast to install gcc, cvs, autoconf/automake etc and their dependencies.
November 24, 2005:
Lisa is still using the old 'ubc' wireless network. The 'ubcsecure' wireless network
does not allow connection into services inside the 'ubcsecure' network. For example,
I could ssh into Lisa when the robot was on the 'ubcsecure' network. Whereas I could
when Lisa was in the 'ubc' wireless network. The wireless network should bring itself
up on reboot. If not, use the script /bin/wireless [start|stop] to kick the wireless
network interface.
I have created the following users on Lisa: little, tristram, talis, shyr, simra, and
elinas. At this time, the account and the password is the same. I will check the
accounts on Saturday November 26, 2005. If you have not login and changed your password
by then, your account will be disabled.
The root password on is the same as the other robots. But I have disabled root login
from the network. You will have to login with your account then su to root.
The firewall is setup to allow SSH. Ports 5000 to 6500 is also open. Otherwise,
everything else has been closed.
I have moved over /usr/local from the old lisa. I have set the file/directory permissions
to be the same as it was on the old lisa.
Please test the new Lisa out. I will be away most of December and will not be doing much
with the robots until January/06.
Thanks,
Glen Lee
