Minutes
Cultural Advisory Panel #2
overall went well
instructions still need refinement
must address screen clutter issues (instructions, help and break buttons)
demo version of CTOC not preferred
language must be minimized, reviewed by experts of language use in health settings
multimodal/bimodal instructions needed
instruction replay a potentially viable tool?
interruptions: distinction b/w self-motivated and social/external interruptions
Parallel Research Projects
CT's Field Work
home-based exploration / field study
to begin before holidays; critical to recruit users with appropriate hardware/software;
CT's field expertise critical to include on grant applications
can fit under CJ's ethics
performance at home differs from clinic performance (i.e. [Craik] ProM task performance of older users outperforms younger users at home, not in clinic)
MB's Experiment
likely ~12 participants per research group, +2-3 per group as pilot subjects;
videotaping both screen (for quant. scoring), and participants for qualitative purposes
potential for directed studies student or volunteer to help run study
Ethics
CJ to get online access for MB and CT;
MB to make first pass on ethics amendment, JM to advise, revise consent form
new study coordinator: W. Wang';
CTOC Development Plan
some validation before Mar 1
cultural advisory panel #3 Jan 28 - still using PPT
PPT size issues - help menu must be addressed - linking macro
MB, CT, JM to investigate potential dev. technologies for CTOC before holidays
