- 1. recap on cultural advisory panel #2 - any high-level issues?

Cultural Advisory Panel #2
- overall went well
- instructions still need refinement
- must address screen clutter issues (instructions, help and break buttons)
- demo version of CTOC not preferred
- language must be minimized, reviewed by experts of language use in health settings
- multimodal/bimodal instructions needed
- instruction replay a potentially viable tool?
- interruptions: distinction b/w self-motivated and social/external interruptions
Parallel Research Projects
CT's Field Work
- home-based exploration / field study
- to begin before holidays; critical to recruit users with appropriate hardware/software;
- CT's field expertise critical to include on grant applications
- can fit under CJ's ethics
- performance at home differs from clinic performance (i.e. [Craik] ProM task performance of older users outperforms younger users at home, not in clinic)
MB's Experiment
- likely ~12 participants per research group, +2-3 per group as pilot subjects;
- videotaping both screen (for quant. scoring), and participants for qualitative purposes
- potential for directed studies student or volunteer to help run study
Ethics
- CJ to get online access for MB and CT;
- MB to make first pass on ethics amendment, JM to advise, revise consent form
- new study coordinator: W. Wang';
CTOC Development Plan
- some validation before Mar 1
- cultural advisory panel #3 Jan 28 - still using PPT
- PPT size issues - help menu must be addressed - linking macro
- MB, CT, JM to investigate potential dev. technologies for CTOC before holidays
- dev work to begin in Jan?
