ACA Student Symposium

The student chapter of the Association of Canadian Archivists at the University of British Columbia cordially invites you to the ACA@UBC 2012 International Symposium, Unpacking the Digital Shoebox: The Future of Personal Archives. The event will take place Friday, February 17th 2012 at the Frederic Wood Theatre at UBC. With much anticipation, we announce our line-up of confirmed speakers including archivists and academics from: Library and Archives Canada, Western Washington University, University of Michigan, Mid Sweden University, San Jose State University, Indiana University, University of Maryland, and Simmons College.

Presentations Include:

·  Elizabeth Yakel – “Other People's Data: Disciplinary Traditions and Data Reuse”

·  Randall Jimerson – “‘To Transcend Myself’: Narcissism and the Digital Attic”

·  Babak Hamidzadeh – “An Iterative & Evolutionary Framework for Digital Repository Development”

·  Catherine Hobbs – “Centring Ideas of Personal Digital Context on Behaviour and Mindset”
         

Registration will also include a complimentary lunch and a chance to speak with archivists, librarians, records managers, students, and Symposium speakers.  For your convenience, payment can be made with a credit card, cheque or cash.

Registration rates are as follows:
Regular Professional: $35 (Includes meal)
Student Basic: $5 (Does not include meal)
Student Full: $15 (Includes meal)
