Graduate Support Initiative (GSI) Award for PhD Tuition Fees
As a result of funding provided by the UBC Graduate Support Initiative, students entering our PhD program without external tuition support are eligible for the GSI award towards their PhD tuition fees for the first four years of their studies. The GSI amount combined with the International Tuition award (below) is intended to reimburse students for tuition fees during the first four years of the PhD program. If there is an increase in tuition, the GSI amount is usually increased accordingly to offset the tuition fee. The University reserves the right to make changes to the award without notice. All PhD students who are eligible for this award will receive it automatically; there is no need to apply separately. For detailed information about the GSI award, please refer to the Faculty of Graduate Studies web site.
International Tuition Award
International students are eligible for the International Fee Award. This scholarship is a merit-based award available to international students who are registered full-time in a research-oriented master’s or doctoral program and are charged the full International tuition fees. Students who are eligible for this award will receive it automatically; there is no need to apply separately. As long as students meet the eligibility requirements as listed on the G+PS website, they will be offered this award. Details of this award can be found on the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies website.
