Transfer Students
If you are transferring from another institution, you must apply for admission to UBC first (through the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, or the Faculty of Commerce through the Sauder School of Business).
The department will not accept applications from students who:
- have 4th year standing
- have 3rd year standing & have completed more than 90 credits in their degree program
Process for admission through the Faculty of Science
Once you're admitted to the Faculty of Science and entering your 2nd year, apply for your Computer Science specialization using the Faculty of Science Coordinated Admissions Process. If your application for admission to the Computer Science program is successful, you will be notified by the Faculty of Science.
Once you're admitted to the Faculty of Science and entering your 3rd year, apply for your Computer Science specialization using the Computer Science department’s admission process. If your application for admission to the Computer Science program is successful, you will be notified by the Computer Science Department.
Process for admission through the Faculty of Arts
After you're admitted to the Faculty of Arts, and you have completed your second year, you'll be eligible to apply to the Computer Science program through the Computer Science department’s admission process.
If your application for admission is successful, you'll be notified by the Computer Science Department.
Process for admission through the Faculty of Commerce (Sauder School of Business)
Once admitted to the Faculty of Commerce, apply to the Combined Major in Business & Computer Science (BUCS).
Important information: The Department of Computer Science may not have enough seats to accommodate everyone, and you may need to select a non-CPSC specialization. If your application is unsuccessful, you can try again the following year. You can still try to take CPSC courses; but, be sure to make academic progress in whatever major you're officially in.
For information on transferring credits, see the Faculty of Science's transfer application process.
