UBC Computer Science professors Giuseppe Carenini and Cristina Conati, post-doctoral fellow Ben Steichen, graduate students Dereck Toker, Michael Wu, won the Springer Best Paper Award at the 2014 International Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization, for their paper 'Te,Te, Hi, Hi: Eye Gaze Sequence Analysis for Informing User-Adaptive Information Visualizations'.
This is the second time Professor Conati won the award. Last year, she and PhD student Samad Kardan received the 2013 UMAP Best Paper Award for their work on Comparing and Combining Eye Gaze and Interface Actions for Determining User Learning with an Interactive Simulation.
